Red Orchid (Los Altos Hills, CA)

Cape Cod-Inspired | 8,000 sq. ft.

A Home Rich In Detail

Designed for a young family in Los Altos Hills, Red Orchid stands apart for its rich interior detailing and traditional architectural character. Inspired by East Coast and Cape Cod-style homes, the residence emphasizes warmth, layered finishes, and finely crafted interior woodwork throughout.

Radius paneling, layered trim detailing, handcrafted doors and windows, and custom architectural elements create interiors that feel timeless, refined, and deeply personal.

The project was also the beginning of a long-term relationship with the family, with Lencioni later returning to complete additional phases on the property as their needs evolved over time.

What Guided the Approach

With such a high level of interior detailing, the success of the project relied heavily on early planning, precise coordination, and consistency across every phase of construction.

  • Extensive interior woodwork, minimal drywall, radius paneling, and custom architectural detailing required careful sequencing across carpentry, cabinetry, and finish trades throughout the home.
  • Custom doors and windows fabricated in Canada, along with highly specified fixtures, hardware, and finish selections, allowed the project to move forward with clarity and predictability from the earliest stages.
  • Because of the level of finish work throughout the residence, maintaining consistency across materials, detailing, and installation was essential to preserving the overall character of the home.

The Result

Red Orchid is a home defined by warmth, detail, and longevity. Its layered architectural character and carefully executed interiors continue to feel timeless while supporting the evolving needs of the family who lives there.

Construction unfolded during an especially meaningful season in the homeowners’ lives, with the family welcoming their second child during the build. Years later, Lencioni returned to complete additional phases on the property, including an ADU and new connecting structures—continuing a long-standing relationship with the family.
