VE House (Portola Valley, CA)

Where Architecture and
BUILDING Become One

Set in Portola Valley, this modern home brought together structure, architectural concrete, and a highly custom door-and-window package in a way that demanded precision at every stage.

What makes this home especially memorable isn’t just its striking design but how seamlessly the architecture and engineering came together to create something that feels both bold and beautiful.

What Guided the Approach

The home’s structural complexity required careful sequencing across steel, concrete, and expansive window systems. Lencioni framed and integrated key structural steel in-house, allowing tighter control over sequencing and fit throughout the build.

One of the most demanding elements was a dramatic three-story window wall system that had to be laid out long before the surrounding structure was fully in place—requiring extraordinary precision from the earliest stages of construction.

The Result

VE House is a modern retreat defined by open spaces, dramatic views, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. The home’s connection to its surroundings is a reflection of what’s possible when architecture, engineering, and construction move in complete alignment.
